Ultimate

I first started playing ultimate in 10th grade. after about a week of playing well at practice, and a good tournament performance, I thought I had surely done enough to earn a spot on the varsity squad. However, when the rosters were released I was dismayed to see that I was put on JV. I spent about a month being quite mad about this, but eventually this anger subsided, and I was able to see the bigger picture. once I started playing in the winter league and later varsity the next year, I was really able to appreciate what my time on JV had done for me. because I was the best on that team, I was thrust into a leadership role, which forced me to learn the game very quickly, as well as how to play with my team. once the first varsity game rolled around, I found I was more than prepared for the higher level of play, and I had a really great season, until I unfortunately suffered a season ending knee injury.

Soccer

I played soccer in sophomore year, and became a starter in my second season. Unfortunately I dislocated my patella (again) just before my senior season, causing me to need surgery and miss out on playing. On senior night I was able to take the opening kick which felt really special, and I'm so grateful for all of the support I recieved from my teammates, coaches and fiends.

Basketball

Dan Horwitz has been my basketball coach for the past two years, and I'm so grateful to be a part of the community that he has created. Coach Horwitz is unique in his push for “championship culture”, which means putting your teammates above all else, always helping each other up, and operating like a basketball family. Playing for Coach Horwitz changed not only what I brought to other sports teams like soccer and ultimate frisbee, but how I approached anything collaborative. I learned to always prioritize the people around me and then the right results will follow.
